Call for ACTIP Fellowship Award Applications 2022-2023

The Animal Cell Technology Industrial Platform (ACTIP) is a science-based association of European companies employing animal cell technology in the development and production of biopharmaceuticals, vaccines and other preventative or therapeutic approaches (www.actip.org).

The Fellowship Award consists of all costs paid to attend a two-day ACTIP meeting. The ACTIP Fellowships for 2022-2023 will be awarded to young scientists following an evaluation of their applications by experts within the member companies. The awarded fellows will be invited to attend one of the ACTIP meetings taking place from Spring 2022 to Fall 2023. In order to be selected for such an opportunity, ACTIP invites you to submit an application. Applications can be sent in from 7 June until 3 September 2021 (24:00 CET). Selected fellows will be notified via email by end of October 2021 at the latest. A shortlist of awarded fellows and their project will be published on the ACTIP website.

National Horizons Centre – CPD in Biosciences

The National Horizons Centre, offer a range of courses for continuing professional development (CPD) in biosciences, informed by the latest research and delivered by academic experts in a world-class research environment.

All of the courses are delivered from the NHC’s state-of-the-art facilities to provide theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies, helping to create an industry-ready workforce.

The NHC is a National Training Centre for Advanced Therapies and have specialist expertise in providing the technical skills required for biopharma and vaccine manufacturing.

Cell Line Selection Scientist: Leading from the lab the successful candidate will be confident in generating CHO cell performance and biochemical data and linking this to cell line performance criteria by working closely with our Cell Line Development, Data Science and OneStream groups to support our Next Generation Cell Line Development capability.

CHO Cell Biologist: The successful candidate must be confident in seeking, critically evaluating and where appropriate, embedding, innovative technologies into our cell line selection workflows. Leading from the lab they will link biochemical and ‘omic data to cell line performance criteria by working closely with our Cell Line Development, Data Science and OneStream groups to support our Next Generation Cell Line Development capability.

Funding announcement

Funding pre-announcement: addressing limitations in manufacturing nucleic acid therapeutics. MRC, EPSRC, BBSRC, Innovate UK, UKRI.

The consortium can include academic and industrial organisations in the UK and abroad. The lead organisation must be UK-based.

Consortium proposals should demonstrate how the research outputs could benefit the wider UK research and manufacturing community.

You are encouraged to explore opportunities to collaborate with the Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator (NATA) Hub, a new research centre in the UK.

Total fund £6 million.
