Post-doc position – Culture process of human primary hepatocytes

The group of Cell Technology (CETEG) in the Dept. Industrial Biotechnology/ Bioprocess Design, CBH School, has a strong experience in the development of manufacturing process of biopharmaceutical drug for human therapy based on mammalian/human cell culture. CETEG’s activities include bioprocessing of high cell density perfusion and dynamic metabolic modelling. CETEG is directing the Competence Centre AdBIOPRO for Advanced Bioproduction by Continuous Processing and coordinating iConsensus, an IMI project funded by the European agencies. It is also partner of the Wallenberg Centre for Protein Research (WCPR) and of the Centre for Advanced Medical Product (CAMP).

Job description
A post-doc position is available at CETEG for a project in a joined effort of the CETEG group at KTH and the Liver Cell Laboratory, Karolinska Institute, CLINTEC, Division of Transplantation Surgery, Assistant Prof. Ewa Ellis. The project is funded by Sweden’s Innovation Agency, Vinnova. The focus is the development of a process supporting the culture of human primary hepatocytes in controlled bioreactor. The practical work will be performed at KTH, AlbaNova Centre, Roslagstullsbacken 21, 10691 Stockholm, in close collaboration with the Liver Cell Laboratory in Huddinge

A qualified candidate will be an engineer holding a PhD degree in biotechnology, bioprocessing, or equivalent. Experience of bioreactor bioprocesses of mammalian or human cell culture is a strong advantage. The candidate should be highly motivated for doing scientific research, should be able to work independently, should have well developed technical skills, and enjoy team working. Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English, communication skills, technical ability and laboratory skills are required for the position.
